Early Years Scotland (EYS) was delighted to welcome a delegation from the education committee of the Lower Saxony State Parliament in Germany earlier today.
The committee is in Scotland to find out all about the country’s approach to the early years and dropped in to the EYS Professional Learning Academy in Glasgow for an overview of EYS’s work.
EYS Chief Executive Jane Brumpton, Depute Chief Executive Gillian Middleton, and Head of Professional Learning Michele Doull gave a presentation and took questions from the delegation. Many similarities between the two countries emerged through the discussion – for example, a shared emphasis on the importance of early intervention and on quality standards, alongside concerns over funding and skill shortages.
