ELC expansion postponement : Early Years Scotland message to members

Posted in News on Tuesday, 31 March 2020
ELC expansion postponement : Early Years Scotland message to members Early Years Scotland has issued the following message to members in response to the annoucement that the Scottish Government has had to postpone the implementation of the expansion in Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) entitlement to 1140 hours:

Early Years Scotland (EYS) would like to ensure that all members are aware that the Scottish Government has had to take the tough decision to postpone the implementation of their flagship Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) policy. EYS fully understands the reasons behind this decision, given the uncertain times we are living in with the spread of Covid-19. We are, however, aware of the potentially significant impact of this delay for the ELC sector across Scotland. It is reflective of the current climate that a revised implementation date will require to be agreed and announced, once normal provision resumes.

EYS wishes to reassure our members that we will do everything we can to support you during this challenging time ahead. Our CEO, Jane Brumpton, and senior management team will be in frequent dialogue with the Minister and Scottish Government officials, in order to ensure that we have the most up-to-date information for the sector (and for families) as possible. We are committed to providing regular updates for you as soon as we receive them.

Although we are not currently in the office, our team is still available and will do our very best to answer any questions you may have in relation to this. Please contact your local EYS Development and Support Officer where applicable, or please email info@earlyyearsscotland.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
