Cost of childcare in Scotland up by 4.5%
Posted in News on Monday, 06 March 2017
Newly published research by the Family and Childcare Trust shows that the cost of childcare in Scotland has risen by 4.5 per cent in the last year.
According to the research, Scottish parents pay the average of £111 per week for a part time nursery place for a child under two, equivalent to £5,800 per year.
Costs in Scotland are about £5 per week lower than the UK average but is claimed Scottish parents are faced by shortages in childcare, with only a quarter of Scottish councils stating they were confident that there was enough childcare in their area for every parent that worked full-time.
